Free online Italian language courses for university students or workers with international or special protection - second edition

Training path:

Participants will be placed in different classes based on their Italian language starting level.

20 hours of lessons per week (10 hours in synchronous e-learning in the presence of the teacher and 10 hours in asynchronous self-learning) with tutoring and IT support.

Targeted lessons for PLIDA preparation and enrollment in certification exams.

Società Dante Alighieri (SDA) and the Ministry of University and Research (MUR) are pleased to announce the launch of the second edition of free online Italian language courses aimed at university students or workers, teachers and researchers with international or special protection.

These free online courses are open to:

  • students enrolled in Italian universities/conservatories/ academies of fine arts
  • researchers at an Italian university or at a research centre recognized by the MUR and
  • professors and visiting professors.

The courses teach language skills to improve academic careers and promote linguistic integration in Italian society.

Thanks to this initiative of SDA and MUR applicants can:

- attend a free online Italian course with content including civic education and academics

- take the PLIDA certification exam for free.

The Italian courses are held remotely on the Dante.global digital educational environment: students will be placed in different classes according to their starting level.

In order to be able to participate in the courses, students must be equipped with a device that allows adequate use of the Dante.global digital educational environment and must have the possibility of connecting to the Internet at a speed appropriate to the services offered.

Applicants have until 31 March 2025 to complete registration, and the free online courses start from 5 May 2025.
